Rebel is a 2012 Indian Telugu language action film written and directed by Raghava Lawrence. Starring Prabhas, Tamanna Bhatia and Deeksha Seth, the film will be screened under the banner of Shree Balaji Cine Media. Bhagwan, J. Built by Pulla Rao. Lawrence also performed choreography and composed music. Released on September 28, 2012, the film was a commercial failure.

Plot

Rishi (Prabhas) is the happy son of the powerful dictator Bhupathi (Krishnaraja) of the village, who is loved by the villagers. Rishi is influenced by his father's aspirations and grows up like him. However, Bhupathi does not want his son to resort to violence and sends him to Bangalore to study and learn music. There, Rishi falls on an orphan named Deepali (Deeksha Seth) and brings her home in the guise of his old music teacher as he wants his father to be happy not to commit violence.

During the festivals in their village, Simhadri (Pradeep Rawat) sends 100 thugs to kill Bhupathi and his family, but Rishi kills a total of 100 thugs. Bhupathi's brother Jayaram (Mukesh Rishi) joins hands with Simhadri so that they kill Bhupathi, Bhupathi's wife Lakshmi (Prabha), and Deepali. Simhadri told Rishi that local gangsters had helped Jayaram to kill Bhupathi and his family. Simhadri immediately kills himself and Rishi stabs his corpse several times. Some of Bhupathi's bodyguards, including Raju (Supreet Reddy), are still alive. They help Rishi get revenge.

Two years later, Rishi finds out that a goon named Stephen has been doing illegal business in Hyderabad for a long time. Rishi finds out that Robert is none other than his uncle Jayaram. Bhupathi began working with Robert Stephen shortly after the assassination. Stephen and Robert became powerful underworld dons. The Rishi suspects that his uncle's new identity is Robert. He goes to Hyderabad and finds out that Stephen and Robert have an assistant named Me (Tej Sapru) who works in Bangkok. I have a daughter Nandini (Tamanna Bhatia). She and Rishi love each other. Nandini wants to see pictures of Stephen and Robert so I showed his phone to Nandini. When looking at the Rishi pictures, it was confirmed that the Rishi uncle's new identity was Robert. Since Simhadri told Rishi that the local gangsters had helped Robert to kill Bhupathi, that gangster must have been Stephen. Later, the king told Nandini about Rishi's tragic past. Nandini still wants to help Rishi find Stephen and Robert.


Rishi bribes me followers to stop protecting me. The Rishi tortures me until I agree to drag Stephen and Robert into a trap. It was revealed that Stephen and Robert had sent two followers to disguise themselves as Stephen and Robert. I'm glad you cheated on Stephen and Robert Rishi. Rishi realizes that his bodyguards Raju and Nandi have been kidnapped by bad guys. Robert tells Rishi that Rishi's bodyguards sent his followers to kidnap Raju and Nandini. Rishi is taken to his old house, the rest of his bodyguards, including the king, are killed, and Nandini is still alive. Stephen and his follower brutally beat Rishi and he lost consciousness. Rishi gets a glimpse of his family, gets up, beats all the followers, kills Stephen, kills Robert's son, beats Robert in black and blue, and shoots Rishi just like he shot his father. Eventually, Rishi and Nandi reunite with each other.

Production
The film was officially launched at Annapurna Studios on December 2, 2010, starring Anushka Shetty opposite Prabhas as the heroine. It has also been announced that S. Thaman will be composing the soundtrack for the film.

Casting
The film premiered on December 2, 2010 in Hyderabad. In this program, J. Bhagwan and J. It has been announced that Pulla Rao will produce the film, which will be directed by Raghava Lawrence and starring Prabhas and Anushka in the lead roles. Brahmanandam, Mukesh Rishi, Kelly Dorjee, Sayaji Shinde, Ali, MS Narayana, Chalapathi Rao, Jayaprakash Reddy, Supreet and Jeeva were also announced in the cast. In February 2011, it was announced that Deeksha Seth would play the second heroine in the film. Filming was delayed due to various reasons that led to Anushka leaving the project. In August 2011, it was announced that Tamanna would replace Anushka. In January 2011, it was reported that Krishna Raju would play a pivotal role in the film. It was later confirmed that he will play the role of father and popular Telugu actress Prabha will play the role of mother.

Filming
After a long delay, regular filming began on 21 May 2011. During the fifty-day working schedule, an action episode and a song were filmed. In October 2011, it was reported that filming would take place in Bangkok, where action sequences would be filmed. In December 2011, it was reported that the unit would be returning to Bangkok to shoot some key scenes and action scenes with Tamanna and Prabhas. Filming resumed at the Shamshabad Temple near Hyderabad after the completion of the Bangkok schedule. A special set worth ₹ 20 million was reportedly built in Shamshabad, with a schedule of 100 fighters and over 1000 extras. In March 2012, Ramoji reportedly built another set of film climax scenes with 30 Russian fighters in Film City.

In June 2012, the unit returned to Bangkok for the third time to shoot two songs for the film. After the completion of the schedule, filming resumed in Pollachi where the scenes on Prabhas and the other main cast were created. The shooting shifted to Pondicherry, where action episodes involving Prabhas were shot. The last scheduled shooting took place at the Aluminum Factory in Hyderabad.
